NEET-UG is a single window entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical courses (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BAMS courses) in all medical institutions, including government or private colleges and universities.

Since 2020, admission to AIIMS and JIPMER for MBBS/BDS courses is also done through the NEET-UG exam. In 2022, approximately 18.7 lakh aspirants were registered for NEET-UG entrance examination. All nationalities are eligible to participate in NEET (UG)-2023, including Indians, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and Foreign Nationals.

NEET UG 2023 Conducting Body

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS and BDS Course

1. Candidate must have completed the age of 17 at the time of admission or will attain that age on or before 31 December of the admission year to the first year of the UG medical course.
2. In order to enroll in undergraduate medical programs at a foreign medical or dental institutes, Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) candidates must also pass the NEET (UG) exam.
3. Moreover, in order to qualify for NEET (UG) – 2023, the applicant must have earned at least 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English in addition to passing in each of these subjects separately. In addition to fulfilling the above mentioned eligibility criteria, NRI and OCI applicants must attach a Certificate from the relevant Indian Diplomatic Mission in the nation of their residency with their online NEET-UG application form to confirm their claim that they are an NRI or OCI candidate and save the original proof of such document to present it when applying for admission to NEET-eligible courses at the time of counselling.

NEET UG 2023 Application Form: Step by Step Procedure

Step 1: NEET UG 2023 Registration

• Applicants are required to sign up and register with the correct phone number and mail id. Signup for the Online Application Form and write down the Application Number that the system generates.

Step 3: Application Form Fee Payment

• The applicants must pay the required examination cost after finishing Step 1 and 2.

Aspirants must start NEET exam preparation along with the 11^th and 12^th standard and make a strict NEET study plan to score well and secure a good rank in the entrance examination. It is also advised to solve NEET prep mock test.

NEET-UG 2023 Admit Card

• Admit cards can be downloaded from the NTA website by logging in to the ‘Candidates Login’ page.
• Candidate must read all the instructions mentioned in the admit card carefully.
• The admit card includes all the details, such as exam date, timing, and centre.
• Candidate must check the exam centre and location prior to avoid any travelling issues later on the examination day.
• Candidates must affix the photograph on the space provided on the admit card.

  • Evidence of remittance (i.e., Bank transaction details supported by confirmation page). Candidates should be aware that a simple fee deduction from a bank account does not constitute proof of fee payment. The payment must be accompanied by an updated fee on the candidate’s account. The creation of the confirmation page serves as evidence that the application form was successfully submitted.
  • A minimum of 4-6 identical passport-size and postcard-size photos that were scanned and uploaded for the online application.
  • A copy of the self-declaration created by the system for candidates from the U.T. of J&K who have chosen seats under the 15% All India Quota.

Things to carry at the day of Examination

Candidates must carry the following documents at the day of examination:

• Printed copy of admit card with the passport size photograph affixed on it (photograph must be same as the one uploaded on the application form)
• Passport size photograph
• One coloured postcard size photograph (4” * 6”) with white background (to be pasted on proforma downloaded with the admit card).
• Any photo ID issued by government
• PwBD certificate, if applicable.

If any candidate is found indulged in the unfair practices, will be booked under UFM case and will be debarred for 3 years and shall also be liable for the criminal action.

Post Examination Activities and Result Declaration

After the exam, OMR Answer Sheets will be posted on the NTA website. Candidates will have the option to lodge an appeal against the OMR grade by paying a processing fee of Rs. 20 per question.

Once the provisional NEET-UG answer key is released, candidates will have the chance to dispute the provisional Answer Key online by paying a non-refundable processing fee of Rs.200 per answer challenged.

NEET-UG Result

The result, score card and Merit List are released by NTA on the official website as per the qualifying criteria and other norms. NEET scorecard displays NEET-UG cut-off marks, total marks scored, percentile, AIR, marks scored in each subject (PCB), AIQ Rank (All India Quota), and category rank.
